Calculator
Venues within your budget
Close, but over your budget
Fit your guest number, ask for a quote
How the calculator works
- Budget per guest is your venue budget divided by your guests.
- Per-person prices are multiplied by your guest number. A price marked plus GST gets 15% added before it is compared.
- Packages and venue hire are shown as the venue publishes them. Venue hire usually means food and drinks are extra.
- Guest capacity comes from each venue's own website. Venues too small for your numbers are left out.
The calculator uses 20 published prices and 37 stated capacities, last checked 19 October 2026. It is a starting point, not a quote.
Questions about the venue budget calculator
How does the wedding venue budget calculator work?
Enter your guest number and your venue budget. The calculator shows your budget per guest, then checks 20 Christchurch venues that publish a starting price and 37 that state a guest capacity. A per-person price is multiplied by your guest number. Package and venue hire prices are shown as the venue publishes them.
Does the calculator include GST?
Treat your budget as including GST. When a venue says its price is plus GST, the calculator adds 15% before comparing it with your budget. When a venue does not say, the price is shown as published and marked GST not stated.
Why do some venues show no price?
Some venues do not publish a starting price on their website. The calculator lists the ones that fit your guest number under Ask for a quote, so you can still contact them.
Is the result a final quote?
No. Published prices are starting prices and change over time. Ask each venue what its price includes, such as food, drinks, furniture and staff, and get a written quote before you book.
