About The Great Hall, The Arts Centre
The Great Hall is the concert hall of The Arts Centre in Christchurch Central City. Designed by Benjamin Mountfort and built as a hall for Canterbury College, it is a light-filled heritage landmark with proven acoustics and modern heating, lighting and sound.
A memorial inside is dedicated to the staff and students who served in World War One. The hall is wheelchair accessible, with a wheelchair lift for performers to reach the stage.
All bathrooms at The Arts Centre are accessible, and there are two mobility parks in Market Square and two in Hereford Street with no time limit. Because of the heritage buildings, a few areas can be reached only by stairs.
